Workshop: Birch Bark Ornaments

Penny Hewitt is passionate about revitalizing and sharing traditional skills. We are thrilled to have Penny back in the 1797 Reuben Wait Barn at Green Mountain Timber Frames for this special workshop.

Utilizing techniques common to the Scandinavian and Russian style of basketry, you will craft birds and stars using strips of inner bark from the paper birch tree. Included is a discussion of harvesting and processing the bark.

$125 per student includes all materials and everyone will leave with 3 ornaments. Maximum number of students is 12, ages 13 and up. RSVP's are required.

Come enjoy the simple pleasure of creating a decoration or gift from materials responsibly harvested in Vermont.
